A very desirable and original 1960s Indian handprinted and painted, padded jacket. We love everything about these Indian print paisley jackets which epitomised the boho hippy chic vibe of the era. It is made from an extremely soft and tactile fine Indian gauze cotton that has been hand printed in wonderful colours of navy, turquoise and purple. The jacket is also hand embellished in gold paints and is edged in navy satin ribbon. There are two front pockets and the jacket fastens with a double row of the original handcrafted wooden toggle buttons. It is lined in a deep blue cotton muslin with a high Nehru collar. The jacket has aged beautifully over time and there is no fade just gentle signs of age appropriate wear, certainly no rips, holes or repairs. We have had this dry cleaned very carefully to ensure it is beautiful and ready to wear. It is labelled a size medium but we think this would be a best fit up to a UK size 10-12 / US 6-8. It also has a Made in India label attached to the waistband. These jackets are increasingly hard to come by especially one as early as this and we're delighted to be able to bring it to market in this very fine vintage condition.
